Sometimes I Just Shake My Head

YoungPilgram asks the question we all might ask:

Slow to React

Tony Blair is calling the situation in Darfur unacceptable and appalling to human rights. He has hinted at sanctions if rapid progress did not occur in Darfur. Blair wants the Aegis Trust to be enforced. The trust would call for measures of a strong UN peacekeeping in neighboring Chad and a non-fly zone over Darfur. Chief Executive James Smith thinks it’s a disgrace that ideas of such santions are only now being hinted. Blair has said that the UK will support the recent agreements that were reached in Addis Ababa about the deployment of UN peacekeepers. Blair believes that the trouble in Darfur can come to an end if individuals are willing to… “…move forward quickly to implement an immediate and strengthened ceasefire, commit to a political process, and agree an effective peacekeeping force for Darfur.” So are Blair’s call to action too little too late?
